How to fix code C0037 Peugeot 308.
C0037 on a Peugeot 308 Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Sub fault / Circuit Fault e706
It’s a chassis code, so it affects ABS, ESP, and traction control. When it triggers, you’ll usually see the ABS/ESP light on and those systems get disabled.
Main causes for C0037 on the 308:
1. Sensor & wiring issues
- Dirty or corroded left rear wheel speed sensor
- Damaged/loose connector at the sensor
- Broken/shorted wiring in the harness from the sensor to the ABS ECU
- Electrical noise/interference in the circuit 982a
2. Sensor mechanical issues
- *Faulty wheel speed sensor itself - internal coil failure
- Wheel bearing/hub assembly problem
- the magnetic reluctor ring is built into the bearing on most 308s. If the bearing is worn or the ring is damaged, the sensor can’t read properly
- Sensor out of alignment after suspension/brake work 982a
3. ABS/ECU side
- ABS module/ECU fault
- Need for sensor calibration or ABS module software update 982a
What to check first on a 308:
1. Inspect the left rear sensor and connector
- it’s behind the hub. They get gunked up with brake dust and road salt. Clean it and check for corrosion.
2. Check the wiring running along the trailing arm. It rubs through often on the 308.
3. Read live data with diagnostic scanner if you have it. If the left rear shows 0 km/h while others move, it’s sensor/wiring. If it’s erratic, suspect the bearing ring.
4. Check the wheel bearing for play. On the 308 T7 /T9, a bad bearing often throws C0037. 982a
Most common fix on the 308 is replacing the left rear wheel bearing/hub assembly, since the sensor and magnetic ring come as one unit. 982a
Want me to give you the resistance specs and test procedure for the sensor so you can check it with a multimeter?
