How to fix code p0443 on Mazda demio
Code P0443 on a Mazda Demio "Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit Malfunction". demio
It means the ECU isn't seeing the purge valve solenoid work right. 90% of the time it's the valve or wiring, not the ECU.
Here’s the fastest way to fix it:
1. Check the easy stuff first
1. Gas cap: Make sure it clicks tight and the seal isn’t cracked. A bad cap won’t usually throw P0443 alone, but check it anyway.
2. Fuses: Check the 7.5A fuse for the EVAP system in the under-dash fuse box. If it’s blown, replace it. 002d2bee
2. Test the purge valve solenoid
This is the most common cause on the Demio. 7ed8
Location: Mounted on top of the intake tube, near the brake fluid reservoir. It has 2 vacuum hoses and a 2-pin electrical connector. 2333
Test:
1. Unplug the connector with key OFF.
2. Use a multimeter on the valve itself, across the 2 terminals.
3. You should see *22-26 ohms*.
- If it’s open, shorted, or way off: replace the valve. Part number for many Demios is B66S-18-740.
4. With key ON, check the harness side. Pin 1 should have battery voltage. If not, you have a broken wire or blown fuse. 7ed82bee
3. Check wiring
Look at the harness near the intake manifold bracket and oil filter area. Heat and vibration make the wires chafe there. Check for:
- Broken insulation
- Corrosion on the connector
- Loose connection d400002d
Repair any damaged wire and use dielectric grease on the connector. d400
4. Quick bypass trick if you just need it to pass inspection
If the valve is bad but you need the code gone temporarily, some people bridge the 2 terminals on the harness with a *2.7k ohm resistor*. The ECU sees a load and thinks the solenoid is there. Don’t go below 1k ohm or you risk damaging the ECU. This doesn’t fix emissions, just clears the code. 2333
5. Clear code and test drive
After repair, clear the code with a scanner. Drive for 10-15 min including some highway speed. If it doesn’t come back, you’re good.
